I had a 2016 highlander xle which i babied and recently had her converted to a 2017 look, had the wheels powdercoated and was about to finish her up with a chrome delete on the roof rails and window trim and the exterior would have been done. Well long story short was involved in an car accident which resulted in a total loss. I will be looking into getting a 19 SE model as we loved our car. Dislike the new model but anyhow here were the final pictures 2 weeks ago.

thank you, appreciate it and likewise. Yes i took everything off the car yesterday that i had put in myself. Only thing i wasn't able to take off was the wheels and tires i had on for 6 months or so. Those items i just submitted my receipts.

it was sad at first but who know's , things happen for a reason and hopefully i'll be able to find another one soon!!!

It's a 2016 and a total write-off so it must have been banged up pretty good! and your here able to write about it.
I see a lot of positive in this unfortunate incident,

If you didn't include the upgrades to be covered by insurance and you replace them with the OEM parts, then that is up to you. If you insured it with the extras, the total loss should include the upgrades. Interesting situation as far as coverage goes. When I added my stereo I thought I should get extra coverage in case of theft, and they had something for such a situation, but I ended up not doing it for some reason. Would be interesting to hear from someone with a lot of claims experience.

"Would be interesting to hear from someone with a lot of claims experience."

Probably one's experience will depend on the individual insurance company. We had a car that was totaled from tornado damage twenty-two years ago. I casually mentioned to the claims agent our bad luck, that we had just put brand new tires on the car. She told me if I could produce a receipt and if they were less than 30 days old (they were), they would include it in the claim because they had salvage value. We couldn't access the receipt in the glove compartment due to the damage, but our tire dealer had the info. That took out some of the sting. Next, the insurance company wanted to pay us less than the market value of the car. When I questioned that, I was told if I could get three local dealers to give me a price, they would factor that in. I did, and we got a better settlement. Granted, that was twenty-two years ago and a lot has changed since then. We had no customized add-ons or mods to deal with.

Happy to report the insurance company sellted an amount we were happy with. All extra's that were added were paid out. AND we purchased a 2018 SE in the same color combo we had and i'm already adding mods to her. Yoda 2.0....Next week the wheels will get powdercoated . Pictures to follow shortly
