CAN floor mats rule!!

"Toyota Canada Inc. said Thursday that an investigation into potential problems with its floor mats that forced a recall of four million vehicles in the United States, does not affect its Canadian vehicles.
"There is no risk of accelerator pedal entrapment when compatible Toyota and Lexus Canadian-designed all-weather floor mats are properly used in the affected models as they are different in design and material composition from the Toyota-supplied mats in the U.S.," the company said."

Yeah right. You guys remember how Toyota said importing was bad because of special Canadian stuff on our Taco's? Different grease, fluids, vehicle immobilizer...

Does that mean we're not included in the Tundra frame rust recall either? I guess Canadian trucks were built with better steel than American trucks? :headbang: :disappoin

Well that's good news westpoint!

I've never had an issue with my floormats. Not sure about the American one's but ours have velcro on the underside that keeps them stuck to the carpet.

Don't forget 4 leaf spring packs from the factory, heavy duty alternators and batteries, block heaters, daytime running lites, I think the list goes on and on...these are differences I learned will shopping for a Tacoma

I fixed the floor mat thing by buying Weathertech mats. When the lease is up the carpet and cheesy TRD floormats will still look new.

got a letter today from Toyota Canada stating that they are "initiating a voluntary safety improvement campaign" and "Toyota will reconfigure (reshape) the accelerator pedal." "This vehicle-based improvement will be performed at NO COST to customers."

so now just need to wait for it to be available. there was also some documentation on properly installing floor mats.

Amen to that! If their idea of "fixing" this non issue :ugh3: is cutting off the pedal, they are worse off than I thought.

The way I would fix it is to have a mandatory IQ test for potential buyers to help weed out the morons from getting behind the wheel that caused this recall to begin with!
