should be able to so long as you use corresponding year parts... I'm eventually going to swap a manual tranny onto my 1.8l, so I don't see why you couldn't swap the 1.8l motor and all its needed parts onto the manual tranny.

 

what are the engine codes? if both motors belong to one family, then it's alright. Also, they should have the same layout (front wheel drive or rear wheel drive).

 

1.8L 7A-FE, 1.6L 4A-FE, don't think he got 4A-GE.

 

its a 95 corolla, so its fine to swap a 1.8 into my 1.6 right????......just making sure because i have the motor in my garge.....

 

I assume you might need stuff like wire harness, computer, and other hardware that might not match.

 

If it's a '95 with the 4AFE 1.6, then it should be pretty easy to swap the 7AFE 1.8. What year is the 1.8 from? You could probably use all the 4AFE wiring.

However, if you're seriously looking for power, then scrap the 1.8 and find a 4AGE.

Hey do you happen to have the blueprint for the tranny swap? I'm thinking of swappnig an auto for manual too, problems is no one I know knows how, nor do they have any info on it. If you have any instructions or something, that'd be awesome.

i'm going 1.8/ because i already have a turbo kit and i'm doing alot of things for the 1.8l like new pistons,rods and port and plish........I'm telling u the truth i swap and 4agze in my car once and it was hard as hell and couldn't make it to work so i sold the motor and got the turbo kit for my car, so thats why i'm not swaping a 4age.........

 

its a straight swap from a 4a-fe to a 7a-fe the only difference is that the 7a is a bit taller
the other issue will be with the transmission, i believe on the 4a the starter mounts in the front while on the 7a its on the back, and depending on the trans some only allow for a starter on the front. Also the 7a has a different oil pan, the 7a has an aluminum main girdle that also bolts to the trans just so you know... wiring should be the same just find a 7a computer and swap it out also

 

but the other thing is that if i swap the 4afe ecu out i have to find a 5speed 7afe ecu...Thats the thing i can't find any out there at all or i don't think they make 5speed 7afe ecu???.....So that means i have to use my 4afe euc right....????

 

With the C52, you can mount the starter on either side of the engine, provided you have the correct 'block off plate'. Personally I like the 4A-F mounting point. Less heat under the intake mani.

I don't have any instructions, but basically you need the shifter assembly, cables, brake and clutch pedals, clutch master cylinder, clutch lines, 5-speed tranny of course, 5-speed ECU, some wiring changes (do some searching for more details) etc etc

They definately make 5spd 7afe ecu's.... or maybe they're just exactly the same as the 4 spd 7afe ecu's....

 

i know that u can't use a autmatic 7afe ecu you have to use a 5speed ecu..........if you use a aut 7afe ecu its not going to run good and the car might not even move.....

look for a 5spd DX, those only came in 7afe, and i know tehy made them. goodluck.
