Cd - Error 1

Anybody have this?

Haven't used the CD player much, probably less than 40hrs total.
Got a CD for Christmas and was playing it on the way to/from work.
Now, about 5 or 10 minutes of play and I hear a tick, tick, tick coming from it.
Pull the cd and play another, no prblm. Put this one back, and get the tick. After a few tries, it won't load. Slide CD in, LOAD flashes a while, then ERROR 1 flashes -until I eject.

Any ideas what's up with that?

Manual says Error1 is a damaged or dirty CD. Suggests reinserting.
If that doesn't work, it suggests returning to the dealer.

However, it works when the unit is cold, only causing issues once hot.
And it plays fine in my daughter's Yaris.

I'm thinking there may be a prblm w/ the load mechanism or spindle that's not properly centering it, or with the laser head tracking.

Since it works cold, but after a full warm up reinserting doesn't solve the prblm, I suppose it could be the disk warming and warping, but it's odd it doesn't do that in my daughter's car. I guess I'll try some other pre-recorded CDs (the only other ones I tried were CD-Rs I recorded).

I have the 6-disk and I have noticed that CDs coming out of it after it has been playing are pretty toasty. I have been considering figuring out how to mount a muffin fan, like from a computer, up inside the dash to get some air circulation up there.
