Well hopefully you didn't buy the car "as is", because if so, then they'll do nothing for you, most likely. If the dealer did provide you any sort of warranty after the purchase you should definitely bring it right back to them and explain that the light came on with the code you found. At that point it is up to them to fix it per the warranty agreement (again, if you have one, and if it covers the powertrain at all). If not then you'll have to appeal to them to see if they'll look into the issue for you without charging you fully since you just bought the car from them.

Don't volunteer any information that they don't need, as they may jump at "I was going 80 on the highway when it happened" and say you were abusing the car, therefore they can't do anything.

Have you checked the fluid on the dipstick? Does it look anything other than pink? Does it smell burnt? Has the car felt strange when shifting since the light came on?
