Cooling fan cycling on/off quickly when parked with the HVAC ON

With my '21 HiHy platinum in park and ON (ICE off and on electric 90% of that time), as long as the HVAC is on (not necessarily cooling; it's still chilly here), a cooling fan will cycle on and immediately off every 30 seconds or so. Just enough to ramp up and immediately turn off. Very annoying. I can understand if the AC was running, but I have no explanation for why it's doing this. Turn HVAC off and no more fan cycling.
Anyone else see this?

This raises a couple of questions for me. How does one completely turn off the climate control? Also, is it possible to completely shut off (e.g. close) the center dash vents? I cant seem to close my center vents completely so that there is no air flow through the vents and it drives me nuts....lol

@agent_smith There is an off button by the left side temperature knob.
I don't know the specifics of the system Toyota uses but my other vehicles with electronic systems, they would close all the air selection paths when the system was turned off. On cars with more basic systems, I was able to select recirculate when the system was off, to shut off the natural flow from outside.

Well, you have electric AC compressor/system, so it needs to be compared against another hybrid Highlander function, not against the belt driven ones. Worse come to worse, you have warranty.
Also, if you have any "on windows" or defog position, you can NOT turn AC off, no matter how you try. It is embedded into DENSO system and AC light won't even come up or show on display.
But that's beyond the point. Someone with HiHy needs to chime in, how their comp/fans cycle or, you go check vs another HiHy in same situations. That does sound not right though. Unless you confusing rad fan with AC fan.

I have a 21 hybrid platinum and the cooling fan cycling you're describing is not something I've experienced. To answer your question about turning off the HVAC system or A/C compressor you have two options on the platinum. You can turn off the entire HVAC system using the physical off button right below the auto button. If you want to keep the system on but inhibit the A/C compressor go to to the climate display and press the A/C button until the blue line is grey or off. See my attached picture for what the display looks like when the A/C is switched to off.

Not sure if this helps. My 21 HiHy Xle does something similar. After driving and placed in Park, the fan cycles on for 2 secs then off 10 (the fan does not even come to a stop before the next cycle). Mine only has a single fan for the radiator so not sure what's triggering it but the gasoline engine seems off.

Ok, so it was 55 degrees outside and cloudy today, and while parked I had the HVAC temperature set to 70 degrees. With the AC on AUTO, the fan cycles on regularly for 4 seconds at a time. Turned the AC off and the cycling stops.

So we have similar situation with our hybrid.

Sitting in the parking lot, ICE off, hvac on in auto mode. I am sure that the a/c is running because it is delivery cold air (vs ambient) out of the dash vent. Water is dripping out beneath the car at the front and rear right of the vehicle which seem to be the area for the evaporator which reassure that air compressor is running. I am not sure if the Highlander hybrid compressor is a variable type or not and how it adjust the load pending the cooling needs.

Anyway, after several different scenario that I have been paying attention to, the fan does kick in like for a second and off or for 5 seconds and off and so on. This is depended on the ambient temperature. For the 1 second on and then then shut off, the hvac is in auto at 73*F and ambient is 74*F-75*F and full sun shine day. Other scenario is hvac set to auto 73*F, outside is ~82*F and the fan would run for 5-6 seconds and off on full sunny day. Today with the hvac set to auto 73*F, outside was 94*F and the fan would stay running a lot longer, but I did not really sit there to try and time it. Again, today was sunny as well.

Either way, I really hate it when the fan was kick on for a second and off. It sort of annoying if you taking a nap in the car and seems to lower the longevity of the fan motor by loading and unloading it like that. I rather sacrifice battery power to have it stay running longer. BTW, all of these was on ECO mode, I need to see what it would do in normal but I am not going to be able to see any cool weather anytime soon because we are about to hit the 100+ soon here in the south.
