Yes, I think we all understand that anywhere between the dimples is "normal". But when I do an oil change, I like to have the level read at the top dimple, not at the bottom dimple. This way, if the car consumes any oil, it has an entire quart to consume before it's below the bottom dimple.
So the OP was asking if he should add oil to bring his oil level up to the top dimple. While I agree that his oil level isn't low enough to cause any harm, I'd bring the oil level up to the top dimple anyway (after he confirms that his level is truly at the bottom dimple by checking it again with the car parked on level ground, and after giving the car enough time for the oil to settle into the pan). I wouldn't want to start my oil change interval with the oil level at the bottom dimple, as that leaves no margin of error if the car consumes any oil.
