Hi

I know the Highlander comes with a roof rack, but is the crossbar standard. I ordered my car thru a broker so he has no clue.

When I checked toyota.ca for external accessories, there is a ski and bike rack option but no crossbar option. does that mean its standard?

I live in Canada by the way, and I order the V6 Base model.

Thanks

I believe they are standard on all Canadian models, definitely on the 2009 Limited and Sport. In the US, I believe they are optional.

Just like the towing prep package to tow 5000 lbs - standard on all 3.5L V6s in Canada, but an option in the US.

According to the brochure that I have, and can be picked up at your local dealer, the roof rack and roof rails are standard on the 4WD V6, 4WD V6 Sport and 4WD V6 Limited. You can also order the brochure online from Toyota.ca and it will tell you all the standard and optional features.

You might want to search around, lot's of people have complained about the factory cross bars - I used them for the first time a few weeks back for my big Thule Box and the complaints are legit. They are very flimsy and the box would vibrate a bit and bounce up and down very easily on the factory cross bars. On my RX350, no issues and the bars are much sturdier.

You might want to consider something aftermarket if you are going to put any weight on the bars as they don't seem very strong.
