First off, welcome to TN!

It shouldn't be a problem to have an intake during winter, but don't futz around in winter. It's not safe.

And there really is no way to work around the sensor. It's there for a reason.

 

I'm currious too, i live in oregon, and the temperature right now is about 50 degrees, and at night it gets down to mid 30's.... and i have a short ram intake, does such cold air have any effect on my engine?

 

yeah the cold air does affect the engine: more power

im lovin the downright chilly temps these days.... driving around with windows down, heat on and having stronger pulls

you have to use the sensor on your intake, otherwise the engine wont work properly.

 

Right, but too much cold air means that the fuel won't atomize properly.

 

see that's one thing i'm still not sure... should i get me a intake or k&n drop in filter... after installing a intake does it effect the computer to throw off a code?

 

your computer will be able to compensate.. the airflow sensor sees more (if any) air and tells the engine what to do to compensate...its not a big enough difference that will matter. i dropped in a K&N panel and right away it was a lot faster...until the ecu reprogrammed itself and put me back into fuel effiency instead of power =(

of course, maybe its all in my head, but on the way home with teh panel just in i did manage 5kph faster then usual.
