Hello y'all,
New user here but long time lurker. Anyway I got a 1996 Toyota t100 4x4 3.4L truck with 240000 miles on it. Truck runs great and is in good shape overall I got the motor rebuilt a while back and overall a nice truck. But lately I got a problem thats been driving me nuts. I'm pretty mechanically inclined but still can't figure this one out. There is a very noticeable shake in the front end on the left side, around 45-65 mph. Feels like the wheel is hopping up and down and it'll shake the hood around and make all sorts of noise. No shake felt in the steering wheel or from the right side. Swapping around the tires makes no difference. I've replaced almost everything in the front end. Just got a new steering box, new tires balanced, new shocks, new tie rods, ball joints, wheel bearings repacked and adjusted, front end alignment done, everything was checked for play and also adjusted ride height with torsion keys. Still shakes and hops very noticeably! Damn thing feels like its about to fly apart but the shake goes away at 70+ mph on the freeway. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Idler arm is new, steering stabilizer is new, sway bar bushings are new, along with end links and all 4 new shocks! This truck is a money pit....
PS Bam- your posts have helped me solve so many other problems, thanks! :)

How good are the front shafts? It should be possible to remove the left side and see if the issue disappears or not. ;)

Glad the forums are able to help you out. ;)

The only thing left that I can think of off the top of my head would be the brake rotor/hub or the control arm bushings. Are the torsion arms cranked up? ;)

I had similar experience with rear right. It vibrated at approx 45-55, but went away at 65+. After replacing tire & doing wheel balance it got better.
Since you swapped wheel-tire assemblies and there was no change; wheels are balanced as you claim, I wonder if you had that type of issue prior to replacement of multiple components of front steering & suspension?
I'd jack up the front L side and shake that wheel for starters. If nothing obvious, I think it's a good idea to go back & re-investigate L front side installation.
BTW, did you adjust torsion bars prior or after the front alignment has been done? If you did after, it's probably a good idea to do alignment again.

Thanks for the input everyone. Yesterday I took it back to the tire shop to have the rear tires balanced and swapped with the front. And it made a difference! Shake is still there but not as bad as before. Could 2 out of 4 of my wheels be bent? Would that cause the above symptoms? I'll also take out that driveshaft and see what that does. Hoping it's not the dreaded control arm bushings!

Around here it doesn't surprise me that they didn't. Shops in my area are reallllly clueless sometimes. Anyway gonna scrounge up some money for Craigslist wheels next week and will post back with results ? What's the T100 lug pattern?
