There have been a lot of threads asking how to install a shift boot or how to take apart the dash. In the following video I show how to install a shift boot in a Corolla with a auto transmission. If you have any questions feel free to ask!
I'm assuming he debadged the "Corolla" emblem from his car and stuck it there in his interior. Btw, back to the subject, are there any TRD shift knobs that can be purchased and fit the auto trans?Random question not concerning the topic of the thread lol. But what kind of adhesive did you use for the "Corolla" emblem? Part of my CF Dash kit is coming off, and I need to find a interior friendly adhesive that wouldn't mess up the interior trim pieces if the whole CF trim comes off.
Any other recommendations are welcome!![]()
So the TRD Knob will fit the AT Rolla right? Sorry, but I'm a little confused by your post.I think they are the same threading...
12 x 1.25
so any TRD Knob for the MT Rolla will fit.
Ahh I see, so AT are M8 x 1.25. GOT IT!Well flawedlegacy mentioned M8 x 1.25 threading for the AT...
But I was always under the impression that it was M12 x 1.25 threading for both the MT and AT, and the only reason why sites say for Manual Transmission only was because most Autos have the Lock Button on the side, but the 10th Gens do not have that.
but here is the thread he is referring to.

and Jeff says AT are M8 x 1.25
+1. I'm loving the red stitching. :chug: I also ordered the VW Jetta shift boot in red stitching, but I'm currently waiting for it to come in (ordered it last week Wednesday). Did you have to zip-tie the top of the shift boot to hold it to any dust seal for the shift knob to connect?Here...
Since no one has added any pics on here for a while...
No issues AT ALL, installed in seconds.
I got the Jetta Boot... But asked for Red Stitching.
Also got the 2008 Yaris OBX Knob from TRD Sparks.

Ahhh, I see. By any chance, do you have any pictures of your shift boot inside-out to show where and how you zip-tied it to make it a tight seal? Wow, it takes that long? Well, thanks for giving me the heads up, so I have an idea of when to expect it to come in.I zip tied it only to make it a tight seal and so the boot doesn't move at all.
if you ordered it last Wednesday then yours should be in Friday or Early next week. Mine took 8 business days exactly. I ordered it on the 28th of July and it showed up yesterday.
Oh, that's okay then. But what did you zip-tie the shift boot to? The shift knob? Or was there a dust seal that came with the boot or knob?I don't have any pics inside out... sorry.
But yeah, topgaitors ship it standard international.
So to Canada(ontario) it was 8 business days. But to Hawaii it may be shorter or longer. So you will find out soon.
Alright, thanks for your help with the zip-tie. Oh really, now I see why you had your boot installed with the side to side stitching. No wonder, well, I hope mine come in with a 50/50 material distribution, since I'm also getting the red stitching like yours, because I really like the look of it from front to back. If not, then I guess I'd have to settle for the 40/60 side to side orientation.look at the knob... and you will see a gap between the knob and the base. I zip tied a seal between the two so there is no sliding.

Also, just FYI, My boot was not a 50/50 split on each side of the stitching which is why I did not do the front to back stitching orientation.
Instead my boot was 40/60 material distribution on either side of the stitching which is why it looked better in my case to do side to side stitching orientation.
My boot might not be exactly the same as ej063090 or the OP's.
topgaitor might have just sent me one that had a similar sized base so it would fit.
So when your's comes in, check to see if it is a 50/50 material distribution on either side of the stitching or not.

My boot came in today, took seven business days. My boot was also not a 50/50 split on each side of the stitching. Instead, it was a 40/60 material distribution, like yours, so I will be doing the side to side stitching orientation. I think the shift boots in red stitching from topgaitor just comes like that(?).Alright, thanks for your help with the zip-tie.
