Do you ever use your paddle shift?

Just as the title says does anyone use their paddle shifters at all?

I use them occasionally. The main reason is they just don’t feel good. They feel cheap so I’m more inclined to use the shift lever instead. My old Lancer had magnesium paddles that had a really good feel to them and I used those all the time.

When I first got the car, a few times, but now almost never. So it’s a waste for me.
(I don’t get why Toyota included both paddle shifters and AI shift feature.
I imagine each of these must add significant cost to the overall price of the vehicle.)

If I want a more spirited response, I activate sport mode.

... Some commentators say you'll damage your tranny over time but Toyota told me the ECU wouldn't allow that to happen to use as much as I like.
Think you misunderstood. Don't think anybody has claimed there is "damage" to your tranny if you use it often to slow down. It is more "wear and tear" to it compare to using the brakes. It is the same idea when you asked about extending the life of the LED headlights by not using DRL. :p

Thanks for the replies. Deff not trying to argue but I feel like brakes are cheaper than if anything happened to the tranny. But if they say its ok....they know more than I would lol.. Off topic but my partner 19 corolla when you hit sport the whole dash goes red..In my 21 the slightest word sport shows up at first I couldn't find it

Sometimes I'll put it in M at certain intersections where I know the transmission is going to shift out of 1st gear too soon, then switch back to D once I'm going. When I'm in sport mode and I have enough room, I do sometimes like putting it in M and using the paddles because of the DCT-like response (it even does the little burbles on upshifts). But of course, the transmission is best left in D to do it's own thing.

Only in sport mode on fun/twisty back roads or if I am looking to have a little fun for a minute. Usually always cruise in eco-mode trying to get decent gas mileage. It is nice that they are there for the occasional smile though. This car is actually pretty fun to drive with a few decent mods even if it is pedestrian in the HP and speed. I didn't buy it to be super high-performance or anything, but sometimes I just want to smile every once in a while.
