Hey guys.
I'd like to share my story with you. I brought my car in for exhaust leaks at the manifold and also to change my wastegate from a recirculating type to a divorced type. After they finished the work they were supposed to do, they went for a test drive and blew my engine. I reset my peak boost function on the boost controller everytime I bring the car into a shop to see if they abuse the car. After finding out my engines blown, I checked the peak boost. TADA! 2.48 kg/cm^2! equivalent to 35.2psi. The shop is only offering to help me find a replacement engine and a discount on labour. I plan on taking this to small claims court.

Heres a pic of the boost controller. You probably wont see a sight like this often.

holy shit man, don't take any crap for that - they have to bring your car back to where it was, you have the proof and all

best of luck, btw that is a shit load of boost, what car is this and what do you normally run?

I would sue like a mofo.....you might have more than small claims court also, as there may be more money at stake

oh this'll be a HELL of a suit......they probably didn't make you sign a waiver, so they are COMPLETELY open via liable claims......not to mention if you really wanted to fuck their day up, there are actually criminal statues in NYS that would apply to this (I don't know about your state though)

I saw a lawyer yesterday. He thinks I have a case.

I posted this thread and very similar threads yesterday on a few msg boards. It seems that the shop has found out about the threads and now they might be backing down. I got a phonecall from one of the guys who work there this morning, and he said that the owners will probably call this afternoon.

haha.....I love the internet...it is amazing what online flaming accomplishes. Oh and as for the suit.....I would follow through with it until you have a WRITTEN NOTARIZED agreement between you and the shop for the expenses and repairs

I'd recommend you continue to persue it with the shop owner...no need to bring the courts into it until you hit a stone wall. I'd also keep their name out of it unless it goes legal (it's public record at that point, and demonstrates a lack of desire to resolve that other members should hear about at that point).

If they come through for you, you know it was probably an isolated case of some jackass employee doing something stupid...and the same jackass probably has a size 10 or so in his ass pointing in the general direction of the unemployment line. If everyone's fair about it, it sounds like it will turn out for you.
