engine speeds too high

Hi, I just bought my 93 Camry V6 LE, and I'm trying to tune it. The engine sounds great however when driving it, the autotranny upshift is rough as if it were driven hard with a stick. I've gotten it softened, but it runs pretty high 2900rpm @ 100kph. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what engine speed you guys are running at 100kph? Thanks.

try flushing out ur tranny and replacing with synthetic ATF

woah....it shouldn't be even close to that high.....you should be running around 2k at 100....it's almost optimum crusing speed for saving gas.....shouldn't be around 3k until you hit 140kph

Really Eye8Pussies? Can you tell me what rpm you were running at 100 kph? I'd appreciate it.

went on the highway today and the tach was at 2200-2300rpm going 100kph

geez dude, mine's at 2100 at that speed.

Maybe the torque converter is not locking up.

hmmm.....how high does the car rev in 3rd when going 100? never really noticed.....I know that in 2nd, you do like, 5k

In 3rd gear @ 100kph, the engines turning at 3700rpm. Thanks for all your replies guys, I think I know what to do to drop the engine speed.
