That doesn't surprise me any... Thank you for the update, I ran it and all went well.

Started at 2.1.0, finished at 3.1.0.

I noticed the Nav ID: number changed as well as the software version... Any idea what enhancements this is supposed to bring?

In case anyone else installs this, while installing during step 8

Image

AVC-LAN, the screen does go blank for a couple seconds... Kinda worried me when it happened :D.

I had entune with navigation but I unplugged the head unit and now it says system not installed when I press the apps button. There is no option to show system info anymore. I tried this update no luck.

Is this different than the Entune update I can do over my cell phone internet when I first launch Entune?

Correct when entune started they sent update over the air on some models. Them sometime they send out a USB to customers .but also Toyota send to the dealers twice year the newest firmware. This one 3.1 was released around oct. 2013

what do you mean it's useless? if you are looking for a free map upgrade, good luck. like the OP said, map is $169 and requires an unlock code.

I didn't find it useless, I wasn't getting caller ID through with my HTC DNA, the display just would say unknown even if the number was in my phone list and saved on the radio. Now the caller ID shows up so I can see who is calling. That by itself made it worth the update for me, and I'm VERY grateful that he posted it.

Make sure it is formatted as fat32. Usually sandisk makes a formater and I would assume it would be compatible with Mac. Make sure the flash drive is labeled correctly and you have both files on there. Did you make sure the files you downloaded are the right size too, you might have a bad download

Hello Glramos, I download the site you posted, then read the PDF file. It stated that:

Entune/Navigation Software Update Process for Display Audio (Non-HDD Type)

I read my window sticker. It indicates I have a HD Radio, not a HDD Radio. Are they one and the same...??

Is this update intended for my HD Radio ..??? Certainly, the picture of the radio is very different.

Waiting...... thanks...

:thanks: :thanks: :thanks:

Wilson,

Your Touring has Display Audio. The Limited has a different system, which is the HDD Audio system....different display, GPS, innards, etc. HD Radio is a feature within your head unit for better sound if the station broadcasts in HD.

Robert

Hi,

Thanks for the fix. It worked like a charm. My mistake was in renaming the drive. I had a capital B in the name when it should have been lower case. Changed that one thing and it ran as advertised. Just curious though, how did we know to rename the drive? Anyway thanks to all for the update!

i have A 2013 Toyota tacoma with entune navigation and jbl i cant seem to get the stereo to read the update its weird because i had a old 2.1 update and it understood it but it i had 2.2 so it did nothing now i have tried everything i know of and the only thing i can thik of is that i cant seem to rename the usb drive to non capitol letters and every time i try fat 32 wont let me do it....update.....i am realy fluent in computer stuff so please be as complex as you can i will understand

edit at 1253 1/27 i dont know what i did i tried again to format an name it 13b it ended up 13B and i put the files on there and not to be thorough i renamed a different copy of the file 13b also so i had that covered some how it worked and than i went to the truck and first tried a different usb that was formatted to somthing like exFat because it alowes lower case letters in name. any way after that did nothing i put the Fat32 one back in there and all of a sudden it said you want to update.....besides scaring me about three times by saying that there was an error readding i needed to reinsert it to restart it and as i went into the house to try the same method on a different and bigger usb i went ount to my truck and on the 3rd time it it was finally past step 3 and finishing up seven than blanking out on step 8 wich i guess is normal and well it worked

A clean format is very important and the name of it .
USB can have internal failure due to to many uses
2.1 is a few years old entune firmware
Entune could take 2-5 minutes to boot up . It won't recognize the USB update till system is completely boot up
The last step blank out is normal . Is a system rebooting

Worked great after USB port fixed

Just did the update from 2.1 to 3.1.

When I first plugged in USB stick, it wasn't detected. Then I tried other sticks and determined that the car's port wasn't recognizing any stick, but it would charge a phone. Well, after close inspection, I found that one of the pins on the car's port was slightly out of whack. A USB cable I had used to connect a phone to the car had an imperfection on one of its pins that apparently bent the car's pin. A quick poke with a sewing needle got the car's pin back in the correct position and every thing then went smoothly.

Thanks for providing the file...

glramos - You are doing god's work, sir. I signed up to this forum just to express my appreciation for your effort in putting these updates out there.

Toyota's update method is broken- They either need to switch to an OTA model or let willing customers download these updates themselves.
