Big thanks to those who have contributed to this thread so far, please keep'm coming!
Do you have a really good DIY article on anything concerning our Tercels? If so post a link to it on this thread and we'll make our own repair/mods manual.:whatwhat:
Pictures and text to make as clear as possible what is being done please.

Exactly Tyler, and that type of information database is what I'm trying to setup. I'll be looking through the 25 pages we have in this section and those in the Paseo section and see which questions come up most often. Proper information is the key to success.
Please add anything you see fit to.

1991 Tercel Front Struts Hints Tips

All of the people saying "you'll put your eye out" when using a spring compressor tends to add to the tension of replacing your front struts. That was our experience anyway. Oh yeah and the manual never quite gets it right-- do they?

The Haynes manual simply instructed to: "remove damper shaft nut". (After securing the strut with compressor and when you're ready to disassemble the strut assembly.)

If you do what's in the illustration, it just spins and the nut doesn't come loose.

Thankfully we deduced that if you hold the spring seat with some channel locks you can then remove the damper shaft nut.

This pic shows where you hold the spring seat more clearly and the nut has been removed along with the top mounting bracket:

Another great resource for this project is http://www.autozone.com
I bought these gabriel struts at AutoZone and when you go to their site you can view online repair guides for your vehicle.

The AutoZone guide for macpherson struts says:
Use a spring seat holder (SST 09727-22032, 09727-30020, 09729-22031 or their equivalent) so that the spring seat will not turn as you remove the nut on the end of the shock piston rod.

Hope this info is helpful!
