Yes they do but why don't you fold them from the inside before they do?

 

Because the attendants at the car wash will just push on them before taking the vehicle into the tunnel. I seldom use their full service but if I do, I don’t want to end up with a damaged mirror.

 

It's folding manually or electric. Don't make any damage to your vehicle.

 

I realize how the mirrors fold electronically, however when the attendant takes the vehicle they often clean with the mirrors open before “they” not ”I” then fold the mirrors before entering the tunnel.

My question was simply, can they be manually folded!

 

Its a servo (simple motor) in the mirror.

Manually folding/unfolding happens all the time. Its not going to break. There may be a little more resistance than a non-folding mirror due to the servo. Who's to say a random stranger hasn't already done this to your parked car? Unfolded to see him/herself, then refolded?

There was a Teslacam episode on this; some yahoo unfolds a Tesla door mirror. Starngely plenty of other non-Tesla cars parked in front and behind w/ door mirrors extended. Guess the person wanted to see himself on a Tesla door mirror.

If you wash yourself, problem solved.
If you goto a "professional" detailer, problem solved.

 

Agreed and I don’t really have a problem, I do wash my vehicle myself and was just wondering if they fold manually.

 

The mirrors will close when the exterior door handle sensor is touched, however I cannot explain what action on the exterior of the vehicle would enable them to fold back out into their normal position?

 

Any water touching the inside door handle sensor will unlock the door and open the mirrors if the key fob is in close proximity. Water touching the outside door handle sensor does the opposite, locking the door and closing the mirrors. One way to avoid this is to disable the key fob by holding down the lock button (on the fob) and pressing the unlock button (on the fob) twice. You should see the fob light flash twice, two times. I do this when I'm washing my car at the self-serve car wash.
