Have room for a full size spare in the wheel well in the trunk? I hate the donuts- and want to get her a real wheel and tire- (and a friggin jack) will it fit?

Anything can fit inside the trunk without the cover. If you want to keep the cover, then no, a full size spare will not fit.

Yes, a full size spare fits (even 225/55/17) in a spare tire "tub", but cuz a full size tire is wider, your trunk cover would be lifted by a spare, so you need to make 4-5 spacers from some packing foam or wood to support the cover. A jack and a bunch of other small things fits under the spare inside of the wheel. You can't put a spare "face down" cuz of sticking out tie bolt thing on the floor.
A factory tie down bolt is not long enough for a full size spare, but any bolt from an older Toyota or Lexus car with a flat top works. I used a bolt from a gen 4 ES 350.
I had a 17" wheel and the OEM jack fits just fine, you just need to wrap it in something (old bath towel), otherwise it would rattle and scratch the wheel.
Appreciate it xpeed and molson-david.

For the price of a full size wheel and tire you could get her a Triple A contract which is safer than changing a tire on the road side.
I think I have had 2 flat tires in the last 20 years so I don't call a ' Donut spare ' a major problem.
As Mr. Public says you could have tried putting one of tires in the trunk yourself and you would have your answer.

A full size spare tire absolutely fits ! I had one in my 2014.5 Camry SE. I just traded the car in Friday on a new Highlander XLE AWD and removed the full size spare and put the "donut" back in place. I think the Avalon in the 7th gen era was the only Camry with the full size spare tire as I recall.

I used the car for long road trips and wanted the security of having a full size spare to complete my road trip without being limited to 50mph/50 miles with a "donut". I also didn't want to have to purchase a new tire, if needed, in BFE along the interstate. I intend to do the same thing for my wife's new Highlander.

The full size spare was mounted facing down and the jack/tire tool tub fit back in the well. There was a slight elevation of the rear cargo mat but it was no big deal. I had the large premium cargo mat on top of the original cargo cover. I can't remember if I had to change out the hold down bolt or not ?

I bought a brand new factory mag on eBay ( a pull off) and put the factory Bridgestone on it when I put Pirelli P7's on at 10,000 miles.

If anyone is interested, PM me. I am putting a few Camry specific items up for sale in the Car Parts For Sale area soon.
