Hi all, first post here. Age 52, long-time Toyota (& Lexus) owner & fan
New to forum and planning to buy a silver 2019-2022 hatchback with a Manual, as soon as I can find one that passes muster, but trying to sort out the less-obvious differences between the SE and XSE hatchback models. In a nutshell, the pickings are slim and I prefer the old-school analog gauges, lighter manual seats etc. I'll be putting on 17" wheels on whatever I buy (between 16" SE and 18" XSE), but I like the little things "here and there" that add to the XSE (talking exterior here). Main differences I'm aware of:
SE:
16" wheels
analog gauges
manual seats
smaller screen on earlier years
XSE: 18" wheels
LED/digital gauges
power seats
Different headlights?
Different Turn Signals?
Other exterior/body differences?
*Springs/suspension may be the same, but may not. Someone searched and found different part numbers for springs even though they may indeed be the same, just marked different for inventory. Does anyone know?
My main question: Aside from 18" wheels, what would someone need to do to make the exterior of an SE be identical to an XSE? I believe the XSE has chrome bezels/trim on the front bumper, possibly "LED turn signals" and at least some have fog/driving lights. I found a 2019 SE and may buy it and go junk yarding/ebaying for the XSE parts. On that note...are electrical bits like the fog/driving lights a plug & play upgrade? Any other items I may have missed? Basically I want the more simple SE...lighter seats, simple gauge cluster, but want to bring the exterior up to XSE level. I'd happily buy a clean XSE but right now all I can find are SE's in my area, so I'm looking to improvise.
Thanks all!
