Headlight Option?

HI TN!
Sooo I went on my first road trip with my 04 LE this week all the way from CA to UT. The rola handled the snow/ice/mud at high rate of speed surprisingly well even with crappy all season tires! I find out the headlights(low beam) were really dim at highways and I had trouble seeing the road. As we all know the rola's DRL will not allow us install HID's unless we disable it which will involve alot wirings. (and i kinda like the auto light/DRL)
What would be the best HID alternative if I want some bright lights without using the highbeams.

HIR bulbs. Philips 9011 and 9012 trimmed to fit. Vosla HIR2 +30 (GM part number 23342527) from a GM dealer will be the brightest low beam you can buy.

Is the GM one plug and play? I dont really wanna trim a bulb

Trimming an HIR2/9012's outer tab is easier than removing a 9005's inner tab.

do you know anyone using the 80w bulbs? I'm afraid they would melt the housing or wiring if they draw too much power... just wanted to confirm that's not an issue.

Just checking, do the lenses need to be polished? Mine are plenty bright since I polished them.

Yes one side needed to be polish and will be done before installing new bulbs
