Help! Corolla stalls in Drive sporadically when cold, then runs perfectly for the res

I need some help because I have taken my corolla to two separate mechanics and neither can figure it out. The car will start and run perfectly in Park in the morning, but whenever I am stuck at a traffic light for a few minutes while in Drive when the engine is still cool, the car will cleanly stall out, with no rough idle first and no check engine light coming on. The car will then typically start up right away once turned back on with no problems, although a few times it has started, stalled out, and repeated a few times before then starting and running perfectly for the rest of the day. The issue is sporadic so I have problems having the mechanics even replicate the issue, and it runs perfectly otherwise, so I have no idea what it could be. Any ideas?

I'd agree with cleaning the IAC valve, plus the throttle body and intake while you're at it, but those issues are usually manifested as an engine that idles rough then stalls, not one that just cuts out without warning.

If a clean IAC and throttle body doesn't help, and more basic things like air filter, spark plugs, coils and coil wiring, etc. are checked, I'd guess it's a fuel issue - either the fuel pump going out, or something in the fuel tank (rust, debris) clogging the fuel filter sock attached to the fuel pump that only occasionally causes enough restriction when it gets sucked onto the sock, then floats away when the engine stalls and the suction stops, then repeats the next time it happens. It's super easy to remove the fuel pump access door under the back seat and pull up the fuel pump just to shine a light in the tank and check the condtion of the tank and sock. The pump itself usually goes out based on mileage, but if a vehicle is driven low on gas repeatedly, the pump can get hot enough times it goes out sooner rather than later.
