It’s an aftermarket part. No markings on the inside for a part number. Does your daughter know what it is for?

 

No, she has no idea where it came from or what it is. One side is kind of scratched up so I'm thinking it has to be something that gets contact of some sort.

 

an end cap, for maybe something around the footwell area by the feet?

 

That's what I was thinking too since it was found in the foot well but nothing obvious there.

 

Looks a bit like a seat track end cover maybe.

 

My daughter owns a 23' Corolla LE sedan and upon exiting found this 1x2" little piece of plastic on the driver's side floor. Any ideas what it is? Looked all over including the seat rails and also looked on the passenger side with no luck. Thanks View attachment 493630

Was her '23 Corolla LE bought new? Was it serviced recently, and what for?

The small protective cover is more than scratched, and did not come from your Corolla... Maybe it got dragged in somehow when shopping at Home Depot or something. Perhaps a pet or child found it on the ground outside somewhere, and brought it inside the car.

 

Oh yeh, the car was bought brand new. I'm thinking the same, that it did not come from the Corolla but from some other place or by some other means. It should have been pretty easy to track down but I was left scratching my head.

it looks like a holder/catch for something like an EZ Pass, but I've never seen a pass that attached like that. The grind marks could be from someone trying to remove the backing or adhesive, or it could have been cut off of another part. Isn't there a Reddit sub something like "what is this thing?"

 

Now I'm really curious what it is. Even reverse image search on Google turned up nothing

 

Yes, I also did the Google image searches with close but no luck results. I'll hang on to this part just in case I eventually notice something missing but now think it likely came from something that fell out of her purse or some other external source.
