Don't forget there is also $2,000 factory to dealer incentives till end of april on the '09.

$4,000 is a lot of cash. Also, there can be more room negotiating room on an outgoing '09 than on a limited number of incoming '10.

The differences between the '09 and '10 is purely cosmetic (unlike the Prius which this year got a new engine and the next gen HSD).

*I* would go for the '09, but if the new grill, rims and tailights are worth 4K to you then go for it.

$2,000 is only if you pay cash (so to speak). If you finance/lease with TCI, you don't get the incentives because you get the low interest rate (0.9% up to 36 month, 2.9% for 48).

For $2k more, you get foglights, new bumper, new alloys, one-touch power windows (2009 only has auto-down for the driver), USB integration and a new grille.

Resale value really only counts in the first 4 years. When I'm looking at used cars that are 4 + years old, I care more about what condition they are in vs. age. Even book values start getting really close.

 

2009 vs 2010

I chose the 2010 over the 2009 and still got a good deal...but could have had a better deal on the '09 but wanted the engine upgrade and new look... don't forget, the changes are not all cosmetic as mentioned in the post above...the 2010 has an upgraded engine with 169 hp as opposed to 158 hp on the '09. Also, the new 6-speed transmission is standard on the 2010 which give you a bit more oomph and mpg is up also due to the additional gear... I have averaged about 26 mpg in mostly city driving (and I accelerate a lot too!) and expect to get low 30s when I take it on the road soon.

I got the upgraded stereo with satellite radio, bluetooth and USB port...its a great car and the acceleration IS better and VERY smooth... a bit more than family members who have the '08 model...but you won't go wrong with either one in my opinion...

If it were me, I would not go for the 2009 (keeping in mind that I love mine), UNLESS the discounts on the 09 made up for the differential in value. For the entire time you own this Camry (whichever you pick), the values on the 09 will always be one year "behind" those of the 2010. They're both "brand new" today, but you'll effectively be taking a much bigger depreciation hit on the 09 as you drive it off the lot than you will if you select the 2010.

 

The 2010 TCH still has the 2.4 liter engine, not the 2.5 liter engine on 2010 non-hybrid Camrys. Also, all TCHs have CVT transmissions, not 5 speed or 6 speed. The ICE (internal combustion engine) in the TCH uses the Atkinson cycle, not the Otto cycle used in non-hybrid Camrys.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying mine. I have to admit, though, I caught the mod-bug reading this forum. I've had mine less than a month and already added an iPod interface, backup camera, unlocking device for the nav,Clear bra, and tint. HID kit may be next!

Mostly, though, I am enjoying the 34 mpg I'm averaging, and the smooth, quiet ride.

2010

I picked up my 2010 TCH this week. I love the front styling. I like that it looks different that the thousands of other Camry's out there....makes it easy to find in the parking lot. Got lots of compliments already from owners of the "old" Camry. But, I can also think of lots to do with $4000.
