here's a new one: D light on dash out

When you shift gears corresponding letters (P=park, R=reverse, etc.) light up on your dash to show what gear you're in. For some unknown reason the D light (for drive) does not show when I'm in drive. All other lights show for the rest of the gear positions.

What can that be about?

Okay. It's common then. Good to know.

Sh*t is hitting the fan for me right about now.

In the past three months:

Stalling out and stop signs and red lights. Took it to a friends mechanic who didn't have a clue. Ripped me for a fuel pump and distributor. After my fourth visit back to him (each time the car got worse) the check engine light came on as I was driving away. Turned out to be a clogged EGR valve.

Next, alarm system bugged out. Parking lights staying on and chirps reversed. I just disconnected it.

Then, motor in power antenna went. Replaced with an aftermarket antenna.

Then, couldn't shift out of park. Stuck a pin underneath the switch to keep it open.

Then, radiator and ac fans went. Motors and fuses are o.k. Taking it in to get looked at this week.

My Camry testing me right about now.:

what is the part# or standard for those bulbs anyways? I mean link H4 or 9005 or ???
I am going to make this an install weekendand I am trying to line up as many things I need to do while I am in there. I personally don't like the D light, but that nagging thought that something is burned on my ride is grating on my nerves..Maybe I can tint it so it isn't so bright, and the fact that some fool left a greasy mark on the inside (smeared fingerprint??) on the clear plastic for the speedo housing. Also wondering if anyone has managed to get that green off the clock? Since I have replaced all the stupid bulbs on the main dash and climate knobs and peeled all that snot green stuff off, it looks weird with that one green glowing clock and all the rest in white, red and blue. Did the SEARCH button already but there but couldnt find info I need.
Nice, cheap, not so messy DIY project.
