Highlander vs Sequoia

The sienna seems more practical but just has that minivan stigma. I wish they made them to look more like a crossover at least.
We took a trip and had to rent a MiniVan, a Kia Sedona 2014. She now wants the Minivan as the family car to be the next addition. She doesn't like driving the Highlander. She says its hard to manage. And she loved the room and space of a 3rd row being fully useful, and this let having captain chairs be useful and preferable in a low profile car (vs a 8" floor height of SUV/HL).

To the poster that said get a tahoe. You are out of your mind. I have driven both ford and gm for most if my life before getting my first toyota in 2012. These domestic cars are complete utter trash. Every single one failed that we had.

They are the definition of planned obsolescence. American cars are what keeps mechanic shops in business
+1!!!! Lease it if you must drive domestic label .

I would get a vehicle bigger than the Highlander IF I had 4 kids, and if I didn't care that I burned up so much gas and encouraged relying on such fuels for the future, and IF I got such bad results on the gas with the HL!! "15mpg"??? Geez...
I get 18 city EASY, more 19-21 without being lead footed on the green lights. Its ALL on how you take off from a stop!
And 24-27+ on highway doing 70+...not sure how some folks get so poor MPG, unless they don't take ease out of a stop. bottom line. This has been my experience.YMMV(your milage may vary, pun intended).

You'd be crazy to get a Sequoia at this point. It just doesn't make sense. I'm a Toyota fan but let's face it is really long in the tooth.

If you're in the market for a full size SUV you can't ignore the new Chevy Tahoe. It is light years ahead of the Sequoia in every measurable way and Tahoes tend to have very reliable and durable powertrains. There are lots and lots of old Tahoes on the road.

I'd get a Tahoe if you want full size body on frame or a Highlander for car based minivanish vehicle.

Don't kid yourself the Highlander is a minivan alternative as all my engineer buddies like to remind me. It simply doesn't have the same space as a Sienna but people still convince themselves it's cooler or more manly but it's a Camry on steroids.

I couldn't compare it to a Camry. I think the Camry is one of the ugliest cars Toyota came up with. So glad they recently redesigned that ugly rear.
Not that I'm comparing looks, but they are very differnt cars. I can see the comparison with the van, but not the Camry...Maybe a Rav4 on roids.

LOL, just the other day a few rather loaded young lads chatted up with me as I pulled to the sidewalk to ask the name of a place, and after a few words, the one guy said something like "Isn't that a soccermom SUV?"(That was close to what he said. can't remember for sure). lol, I laughed and agreed. It wont change the fact that I enjoy driving it when I can.

What model SUV is that SUPER ugly huge Infintiy ? The one with all the curved body styling, and gill like front side air intakes. That is one ugly SUV. I was in the "new" Landcruiser a few weeks ago. That too is long in the tooth...$70+K! They better be stepping it up. I see them now with "deep" discounts at $65-K
