2019 Camry Apple CarPlay and Navigation

Does anyone have experience with the 2019 Camry and Apple CarPlay and associated navigation?

I called into TOyota, My Dealer in Naperville never called me back, and they Customer Service Rep at Toyota said this is only for Apple users,

 

2018-2019 only has apple carplay. 2020 has for both apple carplay and android auto. Hopefully sometime in the future toyota will update 2018-2019 to get it. For now, there is no announcment from toyota USA.

 

I was just reading a post about how a 2019 Tacoma doesn't have Apple CarPlay. There's a company out there that makes an alternative, it's a cable that allows an owner to project his IPhone on the screen. It doesn't allow you to use the touch screen, everything has to be done on the IPhone. I'll bet this is the Icon associated with that. Using that cable also allows you to stream videos on your head unit.

 

Why can only iPhones be used???? Is Toyota going to start giving iphones for their features or give discounts for those of us that haven't bought into the I-hype? How much is Toyota receiving from Apple for only allowing iphone use for their technology????? I am also disappointed.
