How "rare" is a Camry DX, with the V6?

I all. Its been awhile since I have been here. Anyway, today, I went and looked at a 93' Camry. I had only seen it in the advertised in the paper and all I knew is that it was a V6 4dr. I was assuming it was a LE model, because I personally do not ever remember seeing a DX V6 before. Afterwards, I starting thinking I may have seen one a LONG time ago and thought it was unusual. Anyway, when I pulled up to look at it, I noticed it had the "DX" black panel on the trunk and indeed, it had the "V6" emblem on the trunk. It had the crank windows, no power locks, etc, but the interior was very nice. Body was good too, but it had a scrape (with a long dent) on the LR quarter panel, which kinda steered me away. Also, it being a "DX" steered me away, because I know that the value of a DX is lower than a LE. He wanted $1900 for it and it had 170K miles. Had it been an LE, I would have bought it without even hesitating, but now that I seen that damage and knowing its a DX model, I will have to think about it.

I am wondering, does anyone know how many 92 DX V6 models were made? I am guessing it is a low production #? Does anyone here have a DX V6?

Thanks in advance!

Well, when I initially came up on this one, I was thinking the same thing. I thought someone may have changed the trunk lid or something. A little later on, I faintly remembered that I may have seen one other before.

hmm ive never herd of a gen3 DX with a V6. i always though the DX was a 4cyl only. suppose they are out there, there are many here who never knew ther was a gen4 CE with a V6.

Yeah, this is only one I have ever seen in person. I thought it was strange too... like you said, most people that wanted the V6, would go ahead and shell out the extra $ for an LE. I guess they wanted to spend the extra cash on a higher HP engine... :) Looks to me like as far as the exterior goes, the only difference is the DX has black mirrors, door handles and lacks the extra taillights on the trunk. Inside, the seatbacks on the DX are vinyl rather than cloth, the material looked a little cheaper and it did not have power windows or locks. It did have tilt wheel though, as well as A/C, AM-FM/cassette. I did not look to see if it had cruise. It also had the automatic transmission option. It really would have been weird if it had of had the manual shift.

My father said that the fact that it is a DX w/o PW or PDL should not keep me from buying it. I dont know, I really wanted an LE or XLE w/cloth. Seems like the XLE's are getting hard to find too.

I wonder which sold for more.... a DX V6 automatic, or a XLE I4 5-speed?
I do not recall, but were all of the XLE's automatic, or were some 5-speed?

Thanks again!

I've heard of DX V6 before, and I've seen one on the road but yeah definitely rare. Most that buy a V6 would dish out some extra fro the LE

i've heard of DX V6,
my 93 camry 4cyl 5 speed stick shift has no name on the trim, just said toyota, and black center trunk.
on gen 4, they renamed entry level DX to CE
My car's the same way, I don't really know what package it has for sure. It's a 4-cyl manual with manual windows and locks, but has the gold trim package and alloy wheels.
