I have had my car for 4 years now I get a notice from Toyota saying they are now going to start charging me $12 a month to use my remote start on my phone. BMW is now charging customers to use there heated seats, heated steering wheel and cruse control WTF are you kidding me.

Yep. Same with my 2020 Highlander. Sorry, I'm not paying to play.
To my mind I shouldn't have to pay for a subscription to remotely unlock and access my own car.

Meanwhile, I'd love it if I could permanently delete any access and/or visibility to Sirius XM on my car.
I should be able to say to the dealer "I don't want it, rip it out". Tried it with my last Chevy, ah, no such luck.

Does your remote start still work with the key fob?

The subscription fee is using the app on your phone.

I believe even 3rd party remote starters from the app charge you a subscription fee. Because you're using the app through their servers. The key fob shouldn't be charging you anything as that's only communicating directly with the cars receiver. The app is a different story on your phone. As that requires a infrastructure to operate and provide.
