Installing a TRD spoiler on a Toyota Camry XSE

Greetings all,

Had a question regarding installing a TRD Camry spoiler on a Camry XSE. Specifically, the XSE comes with a stock lip spoiler that has to be removed, and is attached to the trunk with screws/holes in the back.

Below is an image to illiustrate what I'm referring to.

My question is, what would it take to patch/fix the holes so that they are no longer visible? Any ideas on how much a body shop might charge? Once they are fixed, I can attach the TRD Camry spoiler myself.

It’s a functional aero piece, so it’s better to be secured by bolts and 3M tape.

For the OP, I’m not sure it will be worth it, unless you really love the TRD wing. You will also risk water leaking in unless it’s professionally done. Covering up the existing holes I mean. And it will require a paint respray.

This might be a long shot, but if the TRD Camry was available in your XSE color, you could swap trunk lids with someone who likes the more subtle XSE trunk spoiler? Back in my WRX days that was popular to swap the STI trunk/wing with the standard trunk lid. Personally, I don’t think it’s worth it.

If you can't find someone with a TRD in your color to swap- perhaps it's possible to look in local junk yards for a base Camry in your color that's been in a wreck.
That's really good advice. I did scour some junkyards to get parts for my Corolla when it was in a wreck.

I did find this youtube video regarding hole filling for cars that demonstrates what's involved:

Thing is, what he's demonstrating is just a home repair job, so who knows how long it would last

You will also risk water leaking in unless it’s professionally done
This is really good insight. I think I'll probably still get the hole fill done (if I go that route) with a reputable bodyshop, hopefully one that offers a lifetime warranty on any paint jobs. At least I know what's involved when doing a paint fill so that should help me negotiate on price.

Honestly I really do like the Camry TRD, but Toyota, in their infinite wisdom only made it in red in 2020; used TRDs cost as much or more than new ones, thus the reason I'm going the XRS route. Also I don't like how they took a bunch of features out of the TRD that you can get with the XRS

https://www.cars.com/articles/the-t...cles/the-toyota-camry-trd-is-surprisingly-good-but-stripped-of-features-433818/ - this lists all the features that are in the XSE and not in the TRD

You can get a new XSE in read with the TRD body kit; the only difference is it doesn't come with the TRD spoiler, hence my original question
