Interior light Auto off problem

I have a 2010 Venza and the auto off feature on the interior light does not seem to work. I remember another thread with having issues with turning the lights off, but my problem is different.

The manual states that after 20 minutes of lights on, doors closed, key out, light switch on door position, all personal lights should automatically turn off to save battery. They do not turn off on mine.
Does anyone know have an idea what it could be?

Thanks,

The 20 minute time out is only in effect if the doors are not fully closed per the manual (see below). Maybe a door is not fully closed or the sensor thinks it is not fully closed. I thought I read someone else had a problem with the trunk not closing properly which could contribute to the problem. Check all the doors JIC and if the problem persists bring it in to your dealer and have them check it out.

Manual info:

To prevent the battery from being discharged

Vehicles with smart key system
If the personal/interior lights and “ENGINE START STOP” switch light
remain on when the door is not fully closed and the personal/interior light
main switch is in door position, the lights will go off automatically after 20
minutes.

Thanks Boltsfan, That's too bad. Both my Sienna and my Matrix shut off the interior lights if kids left them on. Its hard to believe that they went backwards and did not incorprate that in the Venza.

One other thought is that the time period before the interior lights turn off may be disabled, i.e. set to "off". If you have the TFT type multi-information display you can change it yourself otherwise the dealer will need to. Check page 593 of the owners manual. The default setting is "on" and "15 secs" to shut off the interior lights. Maybe this somehow got set to "off"?
