From what I understand. the wiring is plug-and-play as long as you're switching like-for-like (base radio to base radio or JBL to JBL).

I have the 2018 Camry XSE, not 100% sure what the model ID for the head unit is but it is inside the dash whereas the newer Camrys are "pop up" at the top of the dash. I would assume that I couldn't just pop a newer one into my Camry.

 

I think the whole dash trim has to be replaced, but if the wiring is plug and play then it shouldnt be too difficult.

 

You could try this and it is wireless to your phone.

A better idea might be to see if u can just update the SW of the infotainment of the 2023 model on the 2022 model

 

has anyone tried this? i suspect the OPs goal was the bigger screen and higher placement. not necessarily the software. would the hvac vents reroute to the lower position? or would you lose that functionality and basically be left with dummy vents
