In addition to my keyless entry not unlocking, the red security light is on solid when the car is locked. It used to blink, and it does blink when I unlock the door using the key, but why is it staying solid ?

I am guessing something is messed up with the security module, but not sure how to reset it.

The car still starts.

Please help

Thanks

Yes. I get the remote to program, and it works for a few times, then it only locks the doors. I see another person had this same problem, same car, I think they were 98, but same exact problem, only the lock button works after a short time.

I think the RKE module may be bad, but I don't know where it is in the car.

I am searching on Google, but so far, have not found where it is.

Can't find it for sale anywhere either, might be a dealer only part.

Any help ?

I want to be sure that is what it is before I go trying to replace it. It sounds logical that it is what is wrong, but want to be sure. I am hoping someone else had the same issues and found a solution. It is weird that it would still be getting the commands to lock, or sending them to the doors, but not the unlock signals.

Very strange.

The red light did go back to blinking. So, that looks to be working OK. not sure if the security is part of the keyless entry or located elsewhere. If it is, then I would most likely need to reprogram the keys to the new RKE box.

Do you know if this is the case ?

The lock button seems to work on the remote, most of the time. The unlock does not work on the remote.

The keys open the door with no trouble.

The button on the door to unlock the doors does not work some of the time. Seems to be only when I am programming the remote and use the remote to lock the doors, then the inside button won't unlock till I start the car.

Seems like it is doing something to the security system. Like it is telling the car not to accept input from the door switch once the doors are locked.

Very strange. I am trying to find where the Door Control Receiver is located, so I can test it.

It should be sending out 12 volts to the unlock wire when I press the button on the remote.

This should be easy to test, if I could just find the box.

They used to put it in the trunk, but not on the 99 Avalon, they have it hidden somewhere.

I can't find a parts diagram for this year and model to show me where on the vehicle it is located.

If you know where it is, please let me know.

Thanks
