So sad to say this may be my 2005 S 5-Speed final nail in coffin. She is at 33x,xxx not sure of full mileage was it stopped counting at 299,999. Anyway she started rattling while running and then few days later last night it shift to more rattling that wasn’t consistent and more random and with the sound in video and then died. Sound is louder with stethoscope to me at starter.
Ignore my comment about wheels still turning and filth of front seat. I’ve been working gun shows here in Houston and also work work going back and forth with also 4 kids.

There's a little drag from the gear oil even in neutral that will spin the wheels. Hard to tell where the knock is coming from, put it on the ground so the drive line isn't moving to rule the out. Could be some bad rod knock from the engine. What's your maintenance history like?

I just put a chock on the in the wheels and today was literally the day I took off work to replace plugs, change oil, and re clean MAF.

Did a more thorough listen with stethoscope and it definently coming from the bottom of engine as I went across lower half underneath and that was way more louder and not a. Consistent ping or knock but at literal random intervals with no rhythm. Going drop pan and inspect.

That engine is trashed, you'll spend more time and money fixing that one than getting a used engine to swap in. You can pick up one with half those miles that'll do another 150K for dirt cheap these days.
You'd need new rods, oil pump, main bearings (that's engine out), block washed (engine out), maybe a head if the cam bearings are scored since they're part of the head. Nope. It's a neat table for your living room now.

Well that's the thing it had a very slight top end only rattle from valve cover only and I verified once it started i think about a 6-12months ago. Then last week after my Engine Light came back on for the MAF again and a day later my Mainenance light came on did things start to get strange. The Rattle seemed a bit louder but couldn't hear a knock from under it, at least not noticeable to me and I have pretty darn good hearing for a 42 year old and other things started happening couple days later the oil light flickered sometimes at either shifting, starting from dead stop or certain road manuevers or conditions. Then it just happened.

I was expecting to see a spun bearing, not a disintegrated bearing. Luckily it’s salvageable if desired to rebuild.

It’s unfortunate that you won’t be able to salvage your corolla. It is great to learn that you’re helping the children and raising them. My hat is off to you.

Thanks Bro, just wish CPS would actually get off their you know whats and give us custody and pay us. My wife and I are seriously stressed with all this.

I'm contemplating just slapping a single bearing on her putting oil in it. and selling get with a full disclaimer that engine needs a rebuild/replacement due to the failure.

My advice is don't waste any money on it if you're just going to sell it; whoever buys it will just junk that engine anyway, so spending any time and money on your part is pointless.
Hopefully things work out for custody etc, it's stressful now but consider how your care is already helping them.
