Hi all and hope everyone is keeping well,
Lots of discussion about this subject although each case is slightly different than mine, so bear with me... its on a 2012 Camry and posting here as it should not be a make/model/year specific issue.
Issue: The driver side front has a loud squeal when backing up with either no brakes applied or slight brake applied, not just in the morning but whenever I am backing up. No noise when driving forward which brakes fine.
Background: Did my own front brake job with new rotors, pads w hardware
Any experiences or thoughts around this?

- greased the shims, pad top/bottom edges, pad backing plates
- cleaned & lubed all slider pins.
- degreased the new rotors.
- unsure what went wrong but driver side upper caliper bolt came off and was lost after a few weeks/months (passenger side was good), lower bolt was loose and about to come off (originally did it to torque spec). Re-did it with blue lock-tight + torque spec so it should be good now.
- re-checked everything, bracket/bolts are on fine, caliper/bolts on fine, nothing loose.
- dust cover not touching the rotor
- I see enough clearance between rotor and bracket so that should not be the issue.
- wheel turns fine, although need to test-turn it in reverse when on the jack this weekend.
- feels pretty good when driving forward and brakes fine, no pulling to either side, no squealing etc.
- caliper is fine as it retracted without issues when doing the brake job so unlikely it is seized.
- was fine prior to brake job so something I did or with the components or both...
