hey guys, looks like my mechanic forgot to put the old wear indicator clips on the new pads.........is this a big issue?

so the only function for these clips is a warning when your brakes get too worn?

do they serve any other purpose like keeping the pads in place, to keep them from moving, etc?

thanks everyone

thanks, great relief, as I thought my front brakes would make more noise without them......

yeah, front pads were really worn but I did not hear any audible "screeching" sounds......

I don't mind really with them not there, as I monitor stuff like that a lot anyways

LOL I should have expected that . The change in material is there to warn you. Your response reminded me of the gal who brought her 280ZX in with the caliper piston dragging on the paper thin rotor, no pads or backing plate left, and the Rambler wagon that lost the whole right front wheel and drum and she kept driving it, even after turning left at a light and dragging the backing plate on the ground.
Apparently the wagon's CG made it ride with the backing plate off the ground until the brakes were applied. Ramblers were one of the first cars to have dual hydraulic brake systems, so even with the missing parts she still had two wheel brake hydraulics.
