Just checking what is your average gas mileage for your 4th Gen Avalon Hybird when driving in Normal mode? I now monitor the radio screen power flow car energy use between HV battery and ICE or combo both when driving. If I do this, I am able to get 40-41mpg. if I don’t monitor my driving habits on the energy use monitor screen, I will get only 32-34mpg when driving like a regular gas engine car.

In the 4 months I've had my 2015 TAH, my gas mileage has been 34-37 MPG. I calculate it every time I fill up. I do not pay attention to the display MPG, as I don't think it would be very accurate. Obviously my MPG is better with city driving than with highway driving, but it is always in that range.

ECO/Normal Mode Usage Pattern

My pattern:
on Local driving: ECO mode
on Highway : Normal mode

Looking for clarification if this is correct or should be reversed - for best fuel eco.

Using a normal mode, and doing highway and around town driving, I am getting almost 35MPG this is on a vehicle with 93,000 miles (ca. 149,669 km) on the odometer with a loss of maybe 20% battery life. I think it's not a bad result.

I've noticed the last 2-3 fill-ups a drop in MPG from my summer/fall normal of 34-37 MPG to 27-28 MPG.

I wonder if this is because of the winter/cold weather and the need for the engine to run more to maintain vehicle heat?

I rarely use ECO mode. I almost always run in "normal" mode.

I hope someone with more hybrid experience than I will chime in here. With the even colder sub-zero temperatures this week, my MPG has plummeted to around 24 MPG compared to 34-37 MPG this summer. I rarely see the EV light come on as the engine is almost always running to maintain engine heat.
Is this normal for hybrid vehicles in cold climates?
