I’ve just assembled the top end on this 3vze, and can’t figure out where this one goes.
The wire is the only one that exits the end of the plastic raceway next to the distributor.

Any ideas?

thanks for looking!

There’s 12V while the key/engine is on.
I just got this thing and went through the engine before attempting any trips with the family. Low miles, hard life.

Everything seems to work fine, just couldn’t find a wire with the same markings in the fsm, or any diagrams or pictures, etc.

Figured an owner could possibly help me out…

On my 1991 4x4 SR5 there is a wire that exits that plastic raceway and goes down behind the distributor to a connector mounted near that steering shaft. The connector on that wire is gray on my truck though. That black connector looks like the engine ground that connects on my truck near the rear center of my intake plenum, definitely not the same location of your wire. Do you have an old pressure gauge or just an idiot light, that wire looks long enough to make it down to the oil pressure sender area.

Well it is now connected to the oil pressure sensor and all is fine. Thanks for the suggestion!

If I would’ve unplugged it directly from the sensor I think I may have remembered what it was a bit more, and to plug it back in.

Funny thing is I believe the oil pressure light wasn’t on earlier, and would think I would have seen that, especially after a rebuild!
Maybe it’s just better that I hadn’t seen the oil light on…

Glad we could be of assistance. By the way, where are you located? Those harness pictures you have look like your wiring is in really good condition. Out here in Arizona heat takes its toll on any wiring insulation near the engine.

I’m in the Pacific Northwest, and the truck is actually a motor home with about 96K on it.
It actually had a good, one owner life, in a dry but mild area, but a few internal parts of the engine got a bit toasted.

I had a Lexus that was a year newer, and the electrical connectors were disintegrated ten years ago, but that car started out in Texas.
