Someone needs to come out with the parking brake bypass switch soon. I'd like to have the DVD play without the parking brake on.

Unless this works...Perhaps I need to browse a different section on this forum. heh

M/F Locate the black ground wire and the unit's parking brake wire. Consult the unit's manual if the parking brake wire is insufficiently labeled.

M/F Snip the parking brake wire using the wire snips, halfway up the wire. Strip 1/4 inch of insulation from the radio end of the wire.

M/F Slide the male spade portion of the T-tap connector over the bare wire. Crimp it in place with the crimp tool.

M/F Snap the tap portion of the T-tap connector over the black ground wire, aligning the metal teeth in the connector with the wire. Press firmly until the clasp engages on the connector. Wiggle the connector a little to ensure positive contact with the wire.

M/F Slide the male spade connector into the female receptacle on the tap, until it seals firmly.

M/F Although it's possible to attach the parking brake wire to a toggle switch, newer head units often reset themselves after toggling the switch. By attaching the brake wire constantly to ground, the DVD player always thinks the parking brake is engaged.

on my rav4 i have installed 2 different in dash systems. my first system was easy, i just grounded the parking brake and it worked. on my new clarion system, the ground hack did not work. i had to install a toggle switch so the system senses the change between on and off parking brake.

what system are you trying to install now?

Watch DVD's?

I hate to ask this, because I haven't tried it, or read the manual to see if I can do it, but can I play and watch DVD's with the New 2013 Avalon LTD?

Skip

Ok, so I found a DVD, and it works:
Not sure when I'd be sitting still in the car that long to watch A movie but still cool. I guess those in the back seat might like to watch a movie on a long drive, but they'd have to be in the middle with pretty good eyesight to watch and enjoy.

HI guys, I reluctantly needed to trade in my wife's 2013 Avalon for reasons not mentioned. It was a great car by the way. Anyhow I have a Prestigious Society by-pass that I took out of the vehicle prior to trading it in. Selling for 160.00$ with shipping if anyone is interested. Worked GREAT in the Avalon Limited and very little as the wife never used it which was her car.
