Anyone own one of these that Car Hacker advertises on YouTube? Not crazy about the “Warning” that pops up when selecting “Coding and Service”. Any thoughts before I try one on my ‘19 HL? Thanks

Anyone ever use one of these to change window, light settings etc? Thanks

I used a generic ELM327 OBD2 and Carista app 1-week trial to change window and turn signal settings - so you should be able to do the same with Carista app and that dongle. 👍

I believe it's a standard warning to let you know you can break your car if you change the engine settings to some bad value.

That's just an OBD II reader, it cannot change anything. Re-programming requires diagnostic software/tools that are much more expensive and complex.
My son and his friend do this kind of thing for his 2000 BMW 540i (V-8, 6-spd manual) which is why his car has been in my garage for two weeks while my Highlander sits outside. <sigh>

I wouldn't worry about it. Mostly a CYA thing. I have 3 of these and a VCX-Nano. The ELM327 is not very powerful in terms of talking back to the ECM. I never even looked for ways to change anything, but I don't think a 327 will do it. The VCX might, but again, you have to figure it out first, then intentionally do it. I use the VCX with Techstream to program my spare FOBs and do more than just readout codes and monitor basic things. I use the 327 with Torque app.
