The two tabs are on the left side, the inside, of the stalk.

All they look like is two pieces of flat plastic with a bard on one side.

I wish I could swing by, but I am in Guelph Canada, a little bit of a drive.

Maybe someone else can jump in a lend a thought or two to help this gentleman out?

I'll give it another shot tomorrow morning. Thanks for all your help and patience. I'll let you know how it comes out.

I think I once told you that I'm a friend of Al MacIsaac from Guelph. He now lives in Virginia Beach and is General Manager of Chicago's AHL club. I think that our former coach, John Brophy, was also from Guelph.

Finally! In this morning's light I got my wiper stalk installed ... when I figured out what "tabs" had to be worked on ..... works like a champ! Damn black on black components don't help alot. Anyway, thanks for all your help.

In my third picture down I noticed an extra harness just sitting there when I took the covers off. The one covering my shoes. anyone know what that is for?
Not to bring up an old thread, but I just did the fog install on my Tundra, which involved messing under the steering column shroud. That extra connector is for the VSC...it utilizes a steering wheel sensor that senses where the wheel is...just incase anyone still wondered.

Thanks! I was wondering what it was while I was adding the switch. Also, thanks for the clear instructions! Everything went smoothly and the wipers work great!!! Now, if it would only rain ... I live in the desert of SoCal. :)

Easy install works great. Thanks!!

Thanks Dcaplan! Parts delivered to my door from Toyota of Dallas for less than half the price of my local dealer in BC Canada (who said it couldn't be done, by the way). Installed Cruise and int wipers in less than an hour. 2008 Tacoma double cab 4X4 Auto V6. You guys rock!

Hi, I would like to thank everyone for there advice on this subject I was leery about it not working by just switching out the stalks. I to contacted the deal were I purchased the truck and was told that the {8465204141 } stalk would not work. I did ask the parts guys at /www.1sttoyotaparts.com and they assured me that it would work in my truck. I ordered the switch $97.57 + $9.76 shipping arrived in 5 days received it yesterday and with the help of Dcaplan's picks it took me 30 minutes and now I have intermittent wipers.

Congratulations ..... be careful ... it is only the beginning of the mods ..... cruise control next? .... even easier.

Just ordered the intermittent wiper stick from 1st Toyota parts. Very friendly folks, can't wait to install this thing. We've had a ton of drizzle and light rain lately and it's driving me crazy! :headbang:

Put it in today, wicked easy. Toughest thing was getting the cowling apart. I also noticed that compared to the stock stick it automatically wipes the windshield after using the spray.

The basic wiper stick is a joke. I know it's been said a 100 times.

Dcaplan and others,

Thanks for the DIY and all the comments. I was a little disappointed when my '08 Tacoma didn't have intermittent wipers. In fact it was snowing when I drove it home from the dealer and that's when you need it most.

This was an easy upgrade and well worth the $$. I did the cruise at the same time and paid $224. for the parts to do both.

Thanks again! You guys are the best!

So trying to do this anyway, without the pictures, can't get the old stalk out. These "tabs" folks keep talking about..do I need to "press" them in, towards the stalk, or gently "pry" in between the stalk and the tab, in order to get the old stalk out??
