I'm a first time poster.

I have a '97 avalon and I found out today that my rear passenger side tire has only 10 PSI of pressure and the rest of the tires are between 37 and 42 PSI.

I don't have my owner's manual on hand right now and I am planning on inflating the tires.

What is the optimal PSI for the tires on a '97 avalon?

See driver's door jam for proper specs. Worst case, see tire casing for max pressure and drop a few pounds off this number. Only check tire's pressure when cold - first thing in the morning before the sun hits them.

 

I don't know, the car recommends 32 psi. However, I personally think the handling is way to shitty, and boat like this low. I like it at 36-38 psi.

 

With Michelin Harmony's installed, 36-38 psi will jar your teeth out of your head....

And at about 40,000 miles mine don't appear to be wearing unevenly - which would be the case if they were being driven underinflated (@32psi).

Perhaps your particular tires need more pressure than spec to ride correctly? but I'd be wary of premature center wear.....at those pressures. (Unless you're checking them hot??? then of course they would be 36-38 or more and still ride proper)

 

I have Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S tires, which are more geared toward performance than yours; so I am sure they are even stiffer. I guess it depends on the person, but to me 36-38 feels absolutely fine.

 

the tire with 10 psi might have something in it. if all the other tire pressures are somewhat with in a few pounds of each other. should never run tires with high psi. you hit a big enogh pot hole or something and you blow the bead right off the rim. if it feels like a boat you might need new suspension. if you run tires for performance you would use lower tire pressure for better grip.
