P0051 Code and 3 warning lights?

Our 2003 Sequoia has the Check engine/malfunction and BOTH traction control lights on. I took it to Advance Auto to have the codes checked and it was reading P0051, which read:

HO2S 2/1 Heater Ckt Low

I am assuming this means one of the 02 sensors is bad but which one and where? Anyone have any ideas? Also, is it normal for the traction control lights to be on with a bad 02 sensor? I need to replace this asap, especially since we are about to leave on vacation in the vehicle.

Any help would be GREAT!!!!

Thanks:thumbsup:

That code is telling you that you have an open circuit in the first oxygen sensor in the bank 2 manifold. Usually this is because the little filament inside the sensor breaks after time, and replacing the sensor should have you good to go. Bank 2 is the four cylinders on the passenger side, BTW.

Also, it's normal for the other lights to come on with the MIL. They'll go off after the problem is repaired and the light is reset.

THANK YOU! From what you are saying the O2 sensor needing replacement should be right on past the 4th cylinder on the passenger side (near the exhaust manifold)? Let me know if I am on the right track here. I just wanted to make sure. I am also assuming that all of the 02 sensors would have the same part number as well.

Thank you again for all the help and the quick reply:thumbsup:! I will get it changed out this weekend before we leave.

I'm not real clear where you're looking, but the 02 sensor sits in the exhaust. I don't remember if it's in the actual manifold or farther on down the pipe, but it will be the first sensor that the exhaust encounters on it's way out before it hits the catalyst.

And don't assume the part #s are the same, sometimes the pigtail lengths can be different. Verify you have the correct part before you order it.

I have the same error message on my 2004 Sequoia SR5. I went to the dealer to get checked out when the VSC lights and check engine came on and this is what they said:

"Scanned and found P0051. Checked and found bank 2 sensor 1 air/fuel ratio sensor out of range. Monitored and found bank 1 sensor 1 a/f ratio sensor switching slowly. Est $2800 to replace both front sensors, manifolds, gaskets and hardware."

Does all of this really need to be replaced? Should it really be costing $2800?
