P2195 Question

I got my first ever check engine light ... the P2195 on my 2007 with 120,000 miles.

I searched this forum, and a few other places online. The fix referenced on this forum was $1500-$1800 and included sensor and exhaust manifold replacement. It had a TSB, but no recall.

Elsewhere, I saw posted that the exhaust manifold really does not need to be replaced and can be fixed for a $150 sensor and 20 minutes time.

I'm taking my car into the mechanic on Friday and looking for some help. Anyone have experience with this one?

Make sure the sensor is a DENSO or Toyota part. You can buy cheaper but you can't buy better.

I have yet to replace an exhaust manifold for a P2195. It worked fine for 7 years, so why change the manifold

If the bulletin refers to California emissions, those have a catalytic converter in the exhaust manifold in addition to the converter under the car.

TSB-0114-08 P2195 – Oxygen (A/F) Sensor Signal Stuck Lean (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
P2195, replace both A/F sensor and the Bank 1 (RH) exhaust manifold.
The revised A/F sensor is not compatible with the previous A/F sensor or previous Bank1 (RH) exhaust manifold.

Just got bad from the shop... I have a sluggish Bank 1 Sensor 1 (B1S1) on my '07. Check engine light did not come back on yet, but most assuredly will.

Should be as easy as replacing the old sensor and getting on with life. However, with the redesign, the original sensor was replaced. The new sensor will not work unless the exhaust manifold is also replaced (at high cost). Since my car went thru life just fine with the original sensor for 120,000 miles I would obviously like to find a new, old style sensor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is the original style sensor available out there somewhere? Is there another sensor that can be substituted?

Thanks for your help so far, and really hope someone can save me here.

The DENSO part number for the bank 1 sensor 1 air/fuel ratio sensor is 234-9050 I saw nothing in their catalog about requiring the exhaust manifold needing to be replaced also.

I just searched AllData and did find the bulletin referencing replacing the exhaust manifold. I'd still go for the DENSO sensor and it should work fine.
