Power Steering Trouble

Hello,

I have been having a leaky power steering pressure hose for some time on my 98 Corolla CE. I replaced the hose yesterday and now when the car is stopped and I turn the steering wheel I hear a slight whine from the power steering pump which I did not hear before when the old pressure hose was leaking. What could the problem be? I do not have the owners manual to the vehicle and I am concerned that I may have added the wrong type of power steering fluid. I added Prestone power steering fluid. Does the 98 Corolla use transmission fluid rather than PS fluid or is their a special type of PS fluid I need to be using? Please let me know

Thanks

Chris

using PS fluid is fine, it won't harm the system nor would it make that whine. theres still some air trapped into the system. turn the car off and let it set over night, with the car off turn the steering wheel hard all the way to the right and start the car for one second. turn it back off, go all the way left and do the same thing again.

that usually purges most of the air out of the system, otherwise its just a matter of the air working its way out.
