im planning next year to convert my corolla into a AWD (theres only 4-5 AWD 4 door in my province since theyres were only produced in 1989 in canada/US so.......), i already know that it take the full drivetrain, the gas tank and that the redtop AND the bluetop 4A-GE block doesnt fit on the tranny

i would like to have additionnal info, anything that can serve me, + some extras, if theres some LSD differential that i can use in place of the twos open (front and rear) differential and the central that got a manual lockign mecanism. Also if there is a mean to fit a 4A-GE (20V or 16V) on the transmission or another AWD transmission that can be used with the 4A-GE

thanks

The 4AGEs will fit the transmission, I believe there's a notch on the transmission or the motor that has to be machined if I remember correctly. There was an AWD Sedan with a 4AGE swap that was for sale here about 2yrs ago, it was a nice ride and at least it gives you the confirmation that the swap can be done. :smokin:

usually it's said the ae95 tranny isn't that strong and that staying with the 4afe is recommended, but I can't see a 4age being a problem, just keep it stock, I'd say attenpt the celica all trac tranny, wouldn't be a direct fit by any means but would take the abuse better

Heres the problem. The AE92 (2wd sedan) has a different floor layout than the AE95 (4WD). Your "center tunnel" isnt big enough for the driveshaft. So you'd basically have to modify the underchassis. Next the rear axle mounting is different, I'm not sure if you can just plug and play the solid read axle to the existing mounting points.

All in all, I'd rather try and find a decent 4WD chassis and not modify the AE92 chassis.

There was an ae95 in Hamilton near Barton, that a tow truck driver told me about

(where I grabbed my ae95), he said it was going for a grand, I never looked at it, the number of the street I think was 10xx Barton (do not know the last two digits)

might not even BE on Barton... brain fried, however if things go well within a year my ae95 will be up for sale :D
