So ive owned the car for two years and have put up with these less than stellar front brakes for too long.
so it was two years old when ya got it ?
How many miles were on it then ?
what would make ya think those are still the factory installed rotors/pads ?
maybe the po had a cheapo brake job done prior to selling ?
coulda' been some shade tree mechanic over torqued the lug nuts to further aggravate warping ?
My factory installed brakes bite nicely... maybe even a little overly sensitive to me.
I have 29K on them... lots of consumable life remaining.
Maybe some shade tree mechanic installed semi metallic pads
and never changed or turned the rotor(s) ?
would explain "less then stellar" from day one
I think it better to just buy new rotors
machining leads to the possibility of overheating the brakes, increasing the chance of warping.
lest not forget the over-torquing of the lug nut(s).
Not sure if they're mfgr'd for the corolla (probably R)
but I run brembo blanks and Akebono ceramic pads on my '00 Tacoma.
I'd like to do that to my corolla.. when the factory stuff wears out.
But the factory rotors and pads have always worked well for me...
I went thru 3 pad/rotor change using Toyota parts on my Tacoma
wasn't till the last change that I moved to brembo/akebono
The softer Toyota pad compound is kinder to factory rotors.
Many OEM brake components can be a hit or miss deal.
Toyota factory parts... or brembo/akebono
Only brake parts I'm putting on my Toyota's.
EBC is a reputable mfgr
used to run their pads on my cbr
btw... ceramic pads need to warm up a little to work well.
neat thing is... you can abuse the crap outta them...
and they will ignore our errant ways. Lol
Don't run metallic - semi metallic pads... they eat rotors
