Hi all, I’ve been using my Rav4 Hybrid 2023 Trim: Limited Color: Blue Print, for around a year and four months, and while cleaning I discovered some spots on hood, roof, etc where paint is peeling off after becoming bubble. So, I called Toyota Customer Care and representative repeatedly told me it will be out of pocket expense because there is no official recall, so I had to tell the person straight that what about the warranty. And the representative was literally unaware about it. Then told me to reach out to nearby dealer with Toyota Certified body shop and dealer or company will then decide who will pay for this. I am now waiting for an appointment because dealers close to me don’t have certified body shop. I would request everyone if anyone has seen similar issue, please reach out to NHTSA, so it may go into a mandatory recall for company. Because it seems like they don’t care much until it’s an official recall even though warranty states about 3 years warranty for paint.

It’s not bird dropping, because I was cleaning with a cleaner not only with water. I also used sap remover, but no luck, because it doesn’t seem like anything stick to the paint.

I know all this because I had similar situation in my Prius and later on Toyota accepted as a recall, and dealer ended up painting whole Prius again.

Am I wrong, but I thought that the paint finish was warrant for 3 years. By your picture, for what I see it looks like it was hit by something. Did you contact your Toyota dealer about it and does your dealer have a body shop? I know that some dealerships do not have a body shop and you'll have to take it to a indepentent body shop. I can tell you that Toyota and other car manufacturers are using water base paint because it is better for the enivroment but is a softer paint that the earlier paint used. There has been many complaints from Toyota owners that they are getting more paint damage than ever before because of the softer paint.
