I am new to this forum. I own an 2000 Sienna and have plan to purchase a new vehicle this year. I would like to know if I can remove one of the second row seats to gain better access to the third row. I have a family member that needs a lot of space in front of her. I can currently do it with my Sienna. Please advise.

Idk how to remove the second row seats, but fwiw The third row is really uncomfortable for daily use... I’d get another sienna if that is your use case.

The floor is high and the roof is low... I’m 5’10 and my head touches the roof liner if I try to put my head against the headrest.

They don't intend for you to remove the 2nd row seat in Highlander easily as they do on the Sienna. Sienna has "removable second-row Captains chairs." but Highlander does not. If you remove the seat, you'd have to remove the bolts holding it to the floor that the factory put in. And agree with Blooperz, that's probably way to much to go through in order to gain access to a very small seat in the third row.

You might find more details for your 2019 in the 3rd Gen forum.

Like the 4th Gen, the 3rd Gen seats (either captains chairs or bench) are not designed to come out as easily as they would for the Sienna. Where there's a will, there's a way of course. It would involve some amount of disassembly, either removing the seat from the rails or removing the rails from the floor.

Yes, as mentioned above, Sienna has removable captains chairs, meaning they'll come out with just some simple unlatching. Highlander does not have that.
