Replacing Gaskets after Installing Spark Plugs on 2008 Highlander

This is my first post . This is a very helpful forum. I have seen that several of you have replaced your own sparkplugs on your Highlander. I also noticed that to remove the rear bank plugs on a 2008 HL V6 most of you suggest removing the plenum (some call it the manifold) and also the throttle body. Both of these items have a rubber gasket. Have any of you had any issues with leaks after reinstalling these without replacing the gaskets? Usually anything with rubber (like o-rings) is replaced after disassembly since th rubber gets deformed during installation, and both gaskets from the plenum and throttle body are rubber. Thank you for any response. I really appreciate any info.

WOW! You weren't kidding about the rear bank spark plugs. They were a PITA. I got tons of torn knuckles and forearms. That rear bank spark plug closest to the driver was the toughest with the position of the harness connector and space available. Those harness connectors were very tough to unclip...and I even broke a couple. It's like Toyota decided to design everything that way to make it tough on the DIYs. I don't want to worry about this for another 100K miles. Sweenep...thanks. Your step by step really helped me navigate through the procedure. :|

^ So something for me to look forward to in the near future with that clip? Sounds like the same design as the 1GR-FE in the Tacoma. Not enough wire length to unclip that same spark plug, but at least the engine faces front and there's lot of elbow room while swearing at that clip.

Yeah...tons of swearing. I just felt some discomfort on both knees. I realized that I was bent over standing on a stool to reach the rear bank plugs. My knees were hitting the grill and whatnot. I hope the two clips I snapped won't rattle off due to vibration. Just in case I wrapped some electrical tape at the ends where the male and female ends meet. Good luck Moose. Get some beer...I needed it. :chug:
