this explains it all... its me talking with my TN member bro Luisitol. he came up tonight from NYC to get some tires from a hookup of mine... he wanted to change his oil too when he got up...

zonicamry: too much shit happened to my car today...
Fastrackny: what else went wrong? besides the wheel bearing
zonicamry: well i started just planning on changing my wheels
zonicamry: then i decided to change the caliper
zonicamry: on the right
zonicamry: then i figured id change the brake line too
zonicamry: then i get that all together and find out my wheel bearing is fucked
zonicamry: then i take the shit off
Fastrackny: sux:-\
Fastrackny: it'll be all good tomorrow though
zonicamry: take the wheel hub off with a little covincing and a trip to the autoparts store to get a puller for the tie rod after i hit it about 136 times with a hammer with no result...
zonicamry: then i get that off and try getting the thing out myself and that did work, another hour and a half downt he drain
zonicamry: so then i figure i;d go out and change the oil...
zonicamry: so i drained it, and then couldnt get the filter off, so i figured i;d take the exhaust off to get to the filter, and then have the exhaust fixed at the same time while it was off...
zonicamry: then i couldnt get ONE last bolt off from thedamn exhaust
zonicamry: so i just decided to give up for the day
zonicamry: i then cleaned up the tools and shit then took the car off of jack stands
zonicamry: then put the jack under the front right corner of the car so i could roll the car into the parking spot...
zonicamry: then i put the jack stand under that corner cause i knew id need the jackstand for changing yOUR oil tonight
zonicamry: jack* not jackstand
zonicamry: so then i said byebye to my car for the day, and now i hate my car for the moment...
zonicamry: and now im talking to myself
zonicamry: punk get back here...

damn im tired.... :)

heres a pic of what we did to get luis's oil filter off... we tried the filter wrench but the hot manifold got in the way... and it was a lot more than hand tight...
we ended up using an exhaust clamp tightened around it and pryed it loose with the leverage from that...
enjoy the comedy... :)

Pepboys carries the caps that fit on the end of the oil filter. If you're having trouble with bolts, (and don't know about it already), there's a product called PB Blaster that works miracles!

Better luck tomorrow, we've all had those days... I could tell you about my 12 hour Hotchkis front swaybar install on my truck (required some grinding on the A-Arm, and getting the endlink bolts to line up through the access hole on the bottom of the A-Arm was another nightmare), the 5 hour TB spacer install (4.5 hours of it trying to remove the fuel line bracket GM engineers put in the worst place) on the same truck, or my personal favorite, the catback install on my Mustang. After 10 hours of working by myself getting the old exhuast off and the Mangnaflow on, I started to hacksaw what I thought was the shield for the gastank for some clearance on the tailpipes. Well, turns out it was part of the gas tank :) $500 later, I have a new gastank. You've got to love the Ford engineers, it's good to see that they redesigned the gas tank so the newer ones don't have that "shield".

Hang in there, bud!

I got a plastic one from canadian tire....

but the first time I used it to take the filter off which was last done at the shop, it got stuck on the filter wrench and it took 10min to get off....:disappoin

that sucks,

today was the worst for me too. i was hoping and getting ready to go to a camry meet in NY next saturday. On my way to put on my rims, my check engine light turns on and my car starts rough idling. I think its my O2 senors but i need to get a diagnostics test. ($$$) and get new O2 senors $300. SO basically im screwed. i need to finish my car for the meet and today went horribly wrong.

hope everything evens out with you.

Yeah the plastic (graphite) ones suck. Which is why I recomend the metal one.

If anyone is looking for a metal one, its made by Vector. Part # on it is 17040 and it fits Toyota filters (90915-YZZA2).
